What The Bible Teaches About Peace With God
Peace is something everyone wants, but so few experience in this world. And yet it is available to each person who desires it. Peace is a spiritual force, which causes our souls to rest, to find tranquility and relaxation, even in the very midst of chaos. Peace comes from God and is a result of living in the will of God for our lives. There are three areas of peace which we can and should enjoy, because God has provided them for us. Firstly, there is peace with God. Secondly, there is the peace of God.
And thirdly, there is peace with man-kind, because of God. Each of these three areas of peace can be enhanced and developed through continual feeding and practice of God’s Word, the Bible. Peace is a fruit of the Spirit. Fruit grows, therefore peace grows within us, producing a tranquil and radiant person on the outside.
How can we find peace? Let us examine the first if the three areas of peace and see what the Bible teaches about them:
The first area of peace that is necessary for living a wholesome, productive and honorable life, which also gives a blessed hope and assurance in the next life, is peace with Almighty God. It is spoken of in Romans, chapter five, verse one. It says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Many people are pursuing peace, attempting to find it in things which perish with the using, or in religions of various sorts. But, according to the Sacred Scriptures, the Holy Bible, peace with God can only be received one way. And that way is Jesus Christ. Some will argue that God would not limit Himself to just one way to come to Him and receive peace with Him. However, The Lord Jesus Christ settled the matter when He said, that He is the way, the truth and the life, and no man comes to the Father, but by Him. (John 14:6)
Why is Jesus Christ, God’s Son, the only way to peace with Almighty God. The answer is found in God’s Word. God created man. He made him pure and innocent. Then God created woman and gave both of them a commandment that they were not to eat from a particular tree, for in the day that they ate of it, they would surely die. Man disobeyed God. Yet, according to Genesis chapter five, verse five, Adam, the first man, lived to be nine hundred and thirty years old. God had said that in the day they disobeyed Him they would die. Well, did Adam die that day?
He did not die physically that day. But he did die that day. He died in his relationship with God. He lost his standing with Almighty God. He was no longer pure and undefiled. He was no longer able to fellowship with Almighty God without the consciousness of sin. He was now a sinner. And as a sinner, he could only produce after his kind. Because they were the progenitors of the rest of humanity, and seeing that they were now sinners, without right-standing with God, they could only produce sinners. The Bible declares that, “as by one man, sin entered into the world, and death by sin. So death passed upon all men for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12)
Adam’s very seed of life was contaminated with that thing called sin. And because all of humanity came through him, we were all born in sin and shapen in inquity. (Psalms 51:5) We were sinners. We needed a Savior. We needed redemption. We needed someone who could deliver us from the state of sin and bring us back into right-standing with God.
Sin means, disobedience to God and His Word. Therefore, as sinners, it was in us to be against our Creator, to do things contrary to His Will and His Ways. It was in us to sin. Because of this, we had no peace with Almighty God. Our very natures opposed His.
God saw our situation and knew that we could not help ourselves or redeem ourselves. And He also realized that because man had sinned, it would take a man to redeem us and free us from sin. So God became man, and came in the flesh, through the womb of a virgin. Why did He have to come through a virgin, you may ask? The answer is because man was in sin. His very essence was contaminated with sin. So in order for the Son of God to come into this world as a man without sin, He had to come without the seed of natural man.
It is medically proven that a woman cannot give blood to her baby alone. The blood is the result of the joining of the male and the female. If the Lord Jesus came through the seed of natural man, His blood would have been contaminated with sin, because man was a sinner. Therefore God has His Son born of a virgin, so that His blood could be holy. His blood was the result of the power of the Spirit of God overshadowing Mary and placing life in her womb.
Jesus Christ is the only One Who claims through His Word, that He was born of a virgin. So Jesus Christ is the Only One Who is qualified to free us from the bondage and guilt of sin, giving us peace with Almighty God. He went to the cross and died for me and for you. He shed His holy blood to wash away our sins. He arose from the dead and now invites all who desires to have peace with Almighty God to come and receive Him as Lord and Savior. If you and I give our lives to His Lordship, he will justify us, meaning He will wash us from the nature of sin, in His holy blood, and make us children of God, once again giving us right-standing with God. (Romans 10: 9-10, Romans 5:1)
Peace with God is not something we can attain through religious rituals or practices. It simply must be received by faith in what the Lord Jesus Christ has done and provided for us. He paid the price. We need not try to pay another. Just receive Christ as Lord and righteousness, which is justification, which is right-standing with God, which gives us peace with God, shall be given to you.
