How To Live The Lifestyle Of Praise
“Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.”
What is Praise?
Praise is the act of acknowledging God for who He is; your knowledge of God causes praise to flow naturally in you. You do not need a pastor or anyone to “ginger” before you praise your Father. If you find it difficult to praise God, then check yourself. How well, do you know Him?
King David became a man after God’s heart because he lived a lifestyle of praise. Psalm 119:164 “Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.” He praised God more than he prayed. Yet he never lost any battle; God was with him all the way. When you live a lifestyle of praise, you carry God’s presence anywhere you go.
Praise, a ticket to God’s presence
Psalm 100:4 “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” Praise is the only way to enter God’s presence; it is not through complaints, or murmuring. No! This is where Christians get it wrong. If you want to see God in action, then praise Him.
Who dares to stand against a praise-filled Christian? No one, not even the devil can stand a chance to hinder your progress. If you think it’s a lie, then study the life of King David. He made his way to God’s heart because He lived a praiseful life.
Have you praised?
Whenever a sister or a brother is passing through some difficult time, you will hear advice like “have you prayed? or you have to put it in prayers, and we will pray for you”. you don’t hear “Have you praise?” Friend, praise is a weapon that can destroy every wall of Jericho in your life. The devil knows about this weapon, that is why he is trying to blind your mind for not understanding the mystery of praise. Psalms 147: 3-7 “3
The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.
4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.
5 What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? Thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?
6 Ye mountains that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob
Judah means praise; when you are praiseful then you are “Godful” when you are Godful show me the mountain that dares to stand in your way. We have prayed enough, it is time to praise God with the whole of our hearts.
Praise is not conditional: you don’t only praise God when everything is working out as you planned. No, you make praise happen even in the darkest time. That, my friend, is a sacrificial praise; you are simply telling God that, even though there is famine, there is no money to pay the bills, there is nothing working for you, He is still God!
How to praise God the right way
You hear Christians complaining about unanswered prayers and even praise and you begin to wonder if there is God. The answer to the question is, there is God. We don’t just know right things to do. Our God is a God of principles, you have to follow His prescription and not what you think is right. His ways are not our ways. Whatever is written in the scripture is there to benefit us and not Him.
Joy, the key to living a praiseful life; this is where the devil steals our joy, he shows you things that are not working, and then rob you of your joy. When you are not joyful you cannot praise God and when you cannot praise God, you cannot win the battles of life. Praise works wonders; the more you are joyful, the more the devil flees from you.
You have to generate joy; mind you, I didn’t use the term happy or happiness- happiness is conditional or temporary. It can be influenced by the current state of the mind, but joy on the hand is everlasting. Joy doesn’t depend on the amount of money in your bank account neither does it waits for everything to be working fine before you are joyful.
As a Christian, you need to guide your joy; that is what the devil is yearning to steal from you. It is not your car, your house, your job, but your joy. With joy you can all those things back; so guide your joy with jealousy.
Be Mindful of your company
The people you surround yourself with matter in your Christian race. You don’t expect to be around people who complain and murmur about life and live a praiseful life. It doesn’t work that way; the Bible says iron sharpens iron Proverbs 27:17
1 Samuel 30:6 “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.”
You don’t have to wait for anyone to encourage you, do it yourself. Get books authored by Anointed Men of God, follow Christian blogs, study the Word of God, Meditate on His Word, and seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit.
Do you know God?
You cannot genuinely praise who you don’t know. The first step to knowing God is through Jesus Christ. John 14:6. Surrender yourself to Jesus, to live a stress-free and joyful life. Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus is calling you today; He is waiting for you to allow Him to handle your troubles, pains. All you have to do is to say YES to Him.
One way to slap the devil when he tries to steal your joy is to be grateful to your Maker. There is power in thanksgiving; try it today and see how you joyful your become.
So, if you want to see God in action, give Him praise. Psalms 67:3-7 “Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
5 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.”
