Why Am I Not Wealthy, Are Tithes A Scam? Pt. 2
Is Tithing A Sin?
The answer to this question is a big NO! Tithes are not a sin, people do it and are blessed because of their faith. However, nobody should be compelled to pay tithes to the church. If you believe in tithing, then, by all means, do it unto the Lord, and not because somebody told you God would be angry with you.
Romans 14:1-4 “As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2) One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3) Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4) Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another?
It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.”
If Tithing Will Not Make Me Financially Independent, What Will?
Sadly, most churches preach and emphasize of tithes, that they forget to show us the practical steps we need to take for us to be independent. There are principles we need to follow, to get to the level of wealth we desire. The truth is, these principles work for both believers and unbelievers that is why you see a man who is not a Christian doing well in businesses.
God detest laziness, as powerful as He is, he works day and night. Psalms 121: 3-4 “He will not allow your foot to be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” Imagine the chaos the world will be if our Lord decides to take a break.
10) A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep
11) So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,
And your need like an armed man.”
This is not to say you should not sleep or on vacation when you need rest. It simply means you should get busy doing something profitable. Proverbs 10:4 He becometh poor that dealeth [with] a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. Tithing is not the way to abundance, diligence in labor is the answer.
Below are some steps you should put into action if you are tired of your current financial state.
God Is The Giver Of Wealth
God is a wealthy God, Haggai 2:8 “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts” and He empowers us to get wealth. Deuteronomy 8:18 “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” His wish for us is to get wealth, 3 John 1:2
Read Books Authored By Successful Business Owners
So many of us tend to read books on romance, politics, religion, but will never read books concerning the areas they need help. Proverb 6:6 “Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise.”
Look at the above scripture closely; the Bible didn’t just mention any animals, the Scripture was specific. It says “go to the ant,” why? Because the ants are the exact opposite of the word “slothful.”
It means if you want to be financially independent, you need to meet people who are successful in businesses and learn from them. If you’re going to enjoy your marriage, seek the counsels of those experiencing years of marital bliss.
You want academic success, meet the right people. Some people are successful in particular fields. Just because your pastor preaches the word excellently, does not necessarily means he is the best person to give financial advice.
Be Ready To Start Small
Job 8:7 “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.”
Pride and ego have stolen some people’s future; Zechariah 4:10 “For who has despised the day of small things?
For these seven rejoice to see
The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.
They are the eyes of the Lord,
Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.”
If you are not faithful in small things, you will not be qualified to handle big things. You have to prove yourself worthy of the next level by being faithful in your current job. Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might.”
Matthew 25:14-30 talks about The Parable Of The Talents. No matter how little, take whatever you have and work with it.
Sometimes, we tend to lose focus on true wealth. When you are happy with how far the Lord has taken you, He will guide you farther. Be grateful for whatever you have, believe it or not, people are begging God to give them half of what you have.
1 Timothy 6:6-10
Now godliness with contentment is a great gain. 7) For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8) And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9) But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10) For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Let me quickly state here; money is not evil, but it is the love of it that makes it evil. The love that will make you do the unthinkable just to have money.
Cultivate A Lifestyle Of Savings
If you continue to eat everything that comes to you without a thought for tomorrow, you will soon end up a beggar. Not all money that is giving to you is meant for eating. Some are seeds; do not mistake your seeds for bread.
Here is a mystery, I would love to share with you; Isaiah 55:10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater.”
Questions For God: What are you asking God? Are you asking for bread or seeds? When I saw the above verse, it dawned on me that I have been asking for the wrong thing. When you ask for seeds, you will have bread to eat, and more seeds to plant. However, when you ask for bread, you will keep asking.
Lack of money is not the reason you are in want, but lack of ideas is the reason you are in want. Fortunately, you serve the Mighty God, and He is telling you today to ask for anything, and He will give it to you Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
Encourage Yourself: Seek the help of the Holy Spirit, ask Him what you need to do to get wealth, paying tithes is not the solution to poverty. Seek for ideas; James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
There are so many things governing wealth, get books authored by people with proof, study their lives, learn from them, and above all, let the Holy Spirit guide you to all truth.
Read Your Bible: According to the scriptures you are cursed with a curse when you fail to tithe, you also are referred to as a robber, the word of God ask the question “Will a man rob God, you have done so when you fail to pay your tithes.” But on the flip side, God lets us know when we pay our tithes, He will open up the windows of heaven and pour you out blessings, you don’t have room enough to receive.
