The definition of offering another person confidence, support, or hope. It is okay to get encouragement from others, but to be able to encourage yourself is just as vital.
I pray you are well on this glorious Thanksgiving evening. As for me and my family we are doing okay. Although I am in Houston, Texas. I am grateful for this wonderful time in my life. I want to encourage you my friend, but pray you are able to encourage yourself. There will unfortunately be times when no one will be there for you, as sad as it is.
That is when you square your shoulders and set your face as flint and pat your self on your own back, telling yourself “You can do it”. It is okay to encourage yourself on a continuous basis. Yes, it is nice to have that special someone, but if you don’t. That’s when you take matters into your own hands.
I decided to celebrate Thanksgiving with my friend in Houston, rather than be with family. Now don’t get me wrong, I love being with my daughter and grandsons. What a time I have with them, as busy as they are. My time in Houston has been good, and we made the most of our time together.
We cooked, and ate well, but trying hard not to over eat. I love this time of the year, It warms my heart to be around loved ones, but even if I couldn’t, I would still be content. For I have learned to be content with such as I have, and can honestly say, I embrace my time by myself.
Having to have a Turkey and stuffing, Cranberry sauce, Sweet potato pie means nothing if you don’t have peace. Just give me a peanut butter sandwich with a large cold glass of 2% milk or a good salad with a glass of Lemonade, and I am as happy as a clam.
Because I grew up in such a outrageous dis-functioning family, I adore my personal time, or just another special person I can call friend. The ideal time is kicking it with that person, eating, laughing, enjoying the night air, and the beautiful sky that God has sprinkled with stars, listening to music as we hang out on the deck, with good vibes permeating the atmosphere.
Singing to the top of our lungs and dancing to the awesome beat of the music, as if there is no care in the world. Loving each and every moment, not realizing that the time has passed us by, and what was suppose to be three hours became six hours. I am grateful for the many blessings God has bestowed upon my little gathering. It couldn’t have been better, and all the Turkey wouldn’t made a difference.
To the God of Grace and Mercy, the God that sits high and looks low. The God who is better than I can even imagine or hope for. I bless that God! The God who is omnipresent and omnipotent, that is the God I am ever thankful for. For all He has done and all He is going to do.
Encourage yourself in all you do, whether with friends, family, or by yourself. No matter the food, location, or funds. Take your time in traffic, be polite, don’t rush, take that extra time to meditate or pray. Listen to bible verses on your cell phone or read your bible to help relax your mind. These are all great ways to encourage yourself.
Encourage Yourself: To the only wise God my Savior. I bless your holy and precious name on this beautiful day in November 22, 2018.
