Watch “Life-threatening cold hits millions across the US” on YouTube

Be aware!

Hello my beautiful people, just a note to remind you to pray for our country. Pray for safety, wisdom, strength, and compassion, as people weather the extreme temperatures in states such as Chicago and Minnesota.

The life threatening cold has hit millions across our nation. To the point that if you throw boiling hot water into the air, it freezes and turns into snow. An incredible thing to see.

Be vigilant in your prayers for our fellow brothers and sisters. Pray for safe travels, or that individuals will exercise extreme caution in all their decisions. Continue to pray for an abundance of food, warmth, and countability of loved ones.

Above all else, know that the Lord is able to supply all their needs, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!

Encourage Yourself: To GOD be the glory!

Hospice Home Care

According to Google the Medical Definition of Hospice careHospice care: Care designed to give supportive care to people in the final phase of a terminal illness and focus on comfort and quality of life, rather than cure. The goal is to enable patients to be comfortable and free of pain, so that they live each day as complete as they possibly can.

Hospice Home Care is a In-home care where family or loved ones can spend their last days at home with those who are closes to them.

An In-home setting is far better than a public facility where many things tend to go lacking. Things such as precious time, a close watch over our dying loved one.

But the down side, would be not keeping a close eye on the amount of medications given. How many individuals are administering medication. The lack of sleep, and the worst moment, death.

To choose or not to choose weather or not to use Hospice, to use a in-home staff, or weather to send that dear family member to a site that can carry the weight of all the patient care.

The choice is yours, but one must be absolutely well with their decision. No matter what an outsider might feel or say, you are the one ultimately that has to deal with the heartbreaking task of the personal and strenuous workload. A job that can bombard your personal being, while completely consuming every fiber of your being.

If you should decide to use Hospice, and send a beloved family member there. Be firm in your decision, stand your ground, and unwavering. Do what is best for all involved, but by all means, be present. This is a sure sign that the nursing staff will know the family is supportive.

Providing less chance for negligence or abuse. While being supportive to the one who is ailing, after all, no one wants to be alone at a time like that. Remember to do your research before selecting a facility.

Encourage Yourself In The Lord: No one can say what is best for you. You must decide weather Hospice is best , or weather or not you will choose In-Home or a licensed facility.

CONCLUSION:

Remember one must pray and never faint! Seek God in all you do and He will direct your path.

Winning Souls

The Act Of Soul Winning

First, I would like to say big congratulations to you for making it this far to the New Year, I sincerely hope you have started acting on your various New Year resolution. Let me quickly input here that if you are finding it difficult already in this New Year, it means you have not invited your Maker- the Holy Spirit to help you achieve your plans…yes, even your soul winning plans if you ask him to; He is a gentleman.  Simply ask for guidance or assistance.

The act of soul winning unlike what some of us think, is not all about taking your bible and preaching to someone about Christ. No, there is more to soul winning, and I pray God grants you the understanding as you read this article- Amen.

Our first duty as Christians is to lead people to salvation- to tell them about Jesus Christ, how He came to die for EVERYONE to save them, and give them abundant life. Mark 16:15- “15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Five Misconceptions of soul winning

A lot of misconceptions about soul winning that need to be clear- as stated earlier, soul winning is more than taking your bible, walking down the street, and preaching to anyone who cared to listen. Below are the misconceptions of soul winning

Soul winning is the pastor’s duty: One of the wrong beliefs any Christian can have is to believe soul winning is a special duty of the clerics, the pastors, evangelists, apostles, or deacons/deaconesses. You must not be a holder of any post in the church before you can preach Christ to people. The instruction is for every believer, including you and me Mark 16:15 proves it.

Soul winning is to increase the number of the church:  Another misconception of soul winning is to increase the local assembly. Unfortunately, many of us are guilty of this, including pastors. What we call soul winning today is church winning- the ability to win someone over to your church. We tend to preach church and not Christ. Don’t get me wrong; it is very okay to invite someone to your church, however, that is not the main reason for soul winning. Christians should be more interested in saving the soul of the unbeliever than adding another seat to the assembly. This has made a lot of people to be in church but not in touch with their Savior. Until you focus on Christ, and not the church (the building), you cannot conclusively show people the way.

Soul winning is to talk to people about Christ only:  Like I said, there is more to soul winning than preaching God’s word on the street or neighborhood. Do you know your actions speak louder than the utterances of your word? As a matter of fact, people describe you by what you do, rather than what you say.

One of the reasons you are not winning souls to Christ may be your attitude towards the people around you. Can people around you boldly say you are a Christian when you are not there? You cannot preach goodness, kindness, longsuffering and your attitude towards colleagues, friends,  loved ones and even strangers shows the opposite. To save people from destruction, your character and the words you preach must be in harmony.

You dictate who comes to Christ by preaching to them: sometimes,  I hear Christians say “oh I brought this sister to Christ, I brought that brother to Christ” “If not for me, that family would have continued in sin”. Listen, I don’t mean to burst your bubbles, but you are so wrong! Whenever someone gives his or her life to Christ, it is not you working. It shows the Holy Spirit is working; you don’t have the power to change the heart of anyone. The Scripture says for the heart of the kings is in His hands, He turns it to whichever direction in He pleases- Proverbs 21:1

Secondly, Jesus Christ in John 15:16- “16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”

It is true you are the one talking to the lost souls, but it is the Holy Spirit that is working inside of you that is changing the lives of the persons. The earlier you understand this, the more natural evangelism becomes for you. That is why it is advisable to pray to God to use your life (character) and not just your words to change the lives of people around you.

Praying is not part of Soul winning: John 4:36 –  “And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.”

Your prayer is as effective as your preaching and your lifestyle. Believe it or not, someone prayed for your salvation. As you go about your daily activities, endeavor to remember the unbelievers in your prayers. Pray for their salvation; it is as important as going to talk to someone about Christ. In fact, you need to intercede for them first, before going out to speak to them.

The above five misconceptions are some of the things why soul winning seem to be an uphill task for Christians yearning to make positive impacts in life.

Conclusion: Live an exemplary life so that people around you who are not Christians, will see the reasons to believe in Our Lord Jesus Christ. You cannot act like a “lion” and preaching the message of the Lamb. Be the reason someone believes there is God. Secondly, ask for guidance, ask for direction from the Holy Spirit, and He will guide you on how to preach the Gospel of Jesus whether in prayers, deeds or words.

Encourage Yourself: One who wins souls must be wise.

From Death to Life

Thought for Today: And you hath He quickened            -Ephesians 2:1
Memory Verse: So will not we go back from You:  quicken us, and we will call upon Your name. Turn us again,    O Lord God of hosts, cause Your face to shine; and we shall be saved. – Psalm 80:18-19 KJV
Bible reading: Ephesians 2:1-13

And you hath He quickened…

-Ephesians 2:1

’Tis the dead soul who knows the quickening power of the Spirit. Once dead because of sin—a child of disobedience, without and within. Now, having been made alive unto God, the writer directs the believer’s attention backward to his dark past—albeit, for good reason—thus, bringing glory to the One who paved the way; translating him from darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son, to say: “You used to live in sin just like the rest of the world, walking according to the prince of the power of the air.” But God, who loved us, took on “damaged goods” —second-hand commodities, if you will— and made us accepted in the Beloved.  The moment the gospel was preached, our old taskmaster instantly faced defeat. It was on that unforgettable day our soul found relief.

Convicted in the heart because of sin —– turning from a wicked worldly den. Filled with ungodly pleasures once enjoyed, now disgraceful and shameful, so we hung our heads.  But only for a moment until we heard what God said “Even though you were dead because of sin, through my Son you have life whom I raised up again.” Who is the Son? He is the Christ the Anointed one! And where is this Christ? He is seated in the heavenlies, a position of great honor and glory. Seated on the right hand of the Father making intercession for us all; far above all authorities—principalities, powers, and might; a lowly Lamb, now a matchless contender.

The quickened soul is raised with Christ, more than a conqueror is he. This same God has put all things under His feet; therefore, all things are under our feet. Once considered Uncircumcised, we henceforth reap the benefits of being seated with the King of kings. How befitting that one should rejoice in looking back at what they—used to be.  Wretched sinners were we, that would include thee be! What a great testimony of how Christ Himself came and preached peace to thee— reconciling us though we were afar off, now brought near, by His own blood.  Lost; now found, blind, but now we see. Though we dare not boast in ourselves, for by grace through faith is this gift received.  Quickened! Yes, alive—alive—forevermore! Clinging to the everlasting arm, never more to roam. Oh, let the voices of victory ring, with the praises of the enlightened soul now sing!

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ for good works. Thus, God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”  – Ephesians 2:10

Our debt is to Christ…Him only we owe. For the power displayed by such great love bestow—upon us that we are granted to share in His blessings above. Privileged indeed to look back and see, the great works the Son has wrought in thee.

PRAYER OF THANKS: Holy Father, I give you honor and glory for your great mercy and love you have bestowed upon me. I pause to bless your holy name and to give you thanks today for quickening my soul from death to life by the power of the Spirit. Please Lord, let my praises rise before your throne as a sweet-smelling savor. In Jesus’ mighty name.

I wandered so aimless – life filled with sin – I wouldn’t let my dear Savior in – Then Jesus came like stranger in the night – Praise the Lord I saw the light – I saw the light, I saw the light – No more darkness, no more night – Now I’m so happy, no sorrow in sight – Praise the Lord I saw the light

Disassociative Identity Disorder

It’s natural for individuals to not feel connected with themselves or their surroundings. So consequently the word dissociative raises a few questions when it comes to this illness. Like all disorders, it can mean that the symptoms are more serious, than they are with those who do not struggle with Disassociative Identity Disorder, to the point that it disrupts their lives. Thank God, this mental illness is becoming increasingly understood, which makes it easier for it to be identified and appropriately treated. This article addresses common questions, but if the reader fears that someone they know or themselves can identify with the symptoms, they should seek professional help.

What Is Disassociative Identity Disorder

Dissociative Identity Disorder, also known as DID, is also known as Multiple Personalities Disorder. While it is normal for a person to have a moment of dissociation between thoughts and actions, the case is more severe for those who suffer from DID. This lack of connection can affect their identities and personality states, showing a great change of behavior followed by a memory impairment, which is the cause of the multiple personalities.

Substance abuse, other medical conditions, and imaginative children should not have the changes in their personalities accounted to DID as any external factors do not just trigger this disorder. This dissociation is an unconscious defense mechanism usually developed by a traumatic experience.

Cause Of Disassociative Identity Disorder

Dissociative disorders are the result of trauma, emerging as a coping mechanism to deal with the stress caused by it. It can go undiagnosed until adulthood, but when a child is exposed to an extended period of abuse and neglect, this is when this mental illness starts to develop. It protects the person’s consciousness from the events they experience, so when a child is repeatedly violented, they can escape from this experience and block the memories of this abuse. In severe cases, this dissociation can result in an individual developing more than one personality.

It is important to note that not all abused children end up dealing with DID. However, it is more common with this group that it is with non-abused children.

The Facts About Disassociative Identity Disorder

Because studies are relatively recent, it is unknown how common DID truly is. It was once considered to be rare, but experts say it is more common than previously thought. Due to the increase of child abuse documented since the beginning of this century, some believe that at least 1% of the population might suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder, while others argue that this number can reach 3%.

This disorder can be treated with antipsychotics and anticonvulsants, as well as antidepressants, and is believed to be a trauma-related disorder. The name Dissociative Identity Disorder was created in 1994 to replace its former term: multiple personality disorder. The Sidran Institute is devoted to education around trauma disorder, and it believes that people with DID have a posttraumatic stress disorder (PSD)

Common Symptoms

One of the key characteristics of dissociative disorders is dissociative amnesia. This is when an individual blocks a particular event in their lives. A woman who suffers from DID has shared a personal story in which one of her alternate personality states (“alter”) took over and put her in a traumatic situation; after arguing with her sister, she felt stressed, and this “change” took over.

The woman then left her house and was a victim of rape. The memory was triggered when she faced another traumatic event, yet she could not remember many details of that night.

These “alters” are known to take over in times of stress as a coping mechanism.

Treatment For Disassociative Identity Disorder

Although not all dissociative disorders require the patient to be hospitalized, those who present danger to themselves can surely benefit from it as being in the hospital. It allows them to be separated from stressful situations and ongoing traumas that can be a trigger, and it protects them and those around them by keeping the patients from harming.

Effective ways to treat DID are through different therapies. Psychotherapy is the most common, guiding the patient to identify their symptoms and develop coping skills, hypnosis or a drug-facilitated interview, is used to access the subconscious of the patient, and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) allows the patient to reprocess hidden traumas safely.

Encourage Yourself: There are many who don’t believe that mention illness is real, but allow me to inform you that it is very real. Hopefully this short review on Disassociative Identity Disorder will enlighten you so that you might be a little more mindful of those dealing with this illness. Remember to pray for those suffering from DID.
